An American Adventure
October 3, 2009
8 p.m.
Special Guests:
Catherine Keen, mezzo-soprano
Erica Gelhaus, Miss Ohio 2009
Two iconic American composers and our very own Maestro Crafton Beck launch our season with a program that celebrates the spirit and grandeur of America. From Copland’s simple tribute to the dignity of the common man to Bernstein’s exuberant exploration of New York City, these works are fresh, strong and direct. The words of Abraham Lincoln and soloist Catherine Keen bring to life the optimistic tone that marks this distinctly American concert, featuring our debut of Three Songs by Crafton Beck.
