Gold, Silver, Bronze – It’s the Orchestra Olympics
(November 5, 2007 Lima, Ohio) The mission of the Lima Symphony Orchestra is to preserve musical excellence as a living part of our community through performance but most importantly through education. That is why each year the LSO offers two free Young People’s Concerts for all school children in the region.
The Music Olympics is coming to the Civic Center on November 6 at 9:30am and 11:00am. It’s a concert of the highest music, the lowest music, the loudest music, the softest music and so on. In the end the kids will get to decide who wins the gold, silver and bronze.
More than 3,000 school children each year enjoy learning about and listening to symphonic music. This age appropriate concert teaches kids about the symphony and opens their eyes and ears to a world of possibilities through music. School teachers from the entire region are invited to bring their class or entire school to this FREE Youth Orchestra concert.
Schools that attend the Young People’s Concerts include: Ada, Bluffton, Bath, Lima, Franklin Celina, Franklin Delphos, Delphos St. Johns, Findlay Home, Chamberlin Hill Findlay, Franklin Van Wert, Holy Rosary St. Marys, Jefferson Van Wert, Northridge Wapakoneta, New Bremen and many others.
Underwriters of the Young People’s Concerts include: Rhodes State College, The Ohio State University, Ohio Northern University, Benevolent Order of Elks, Honda of America.
