folklore and fusion

Listen as the Lima Symphony tells captivating tales from the near to far East through musical fantasy. Opening this incredible season are the subtle and varied sounds of the Indian Tabla, drums that composer Dinuk Wijeratne describes as being able to speak – almost as if they have a tongue.

PAST AND PRESENT SOUNDS

Embark on a musical odyssey that embraces the past through a modern lens! Opening with Valerie Coleman’s 2021 “Fanfare for Uncommon Times”, this program presents new takes on old ideas.

The Lima Symphony welcomes Jeans n’ Classics back to our stage for “Never Break the Chain – The Music of Fleetwood Mac.” Hailed as one of the greatest pop groups of all time, Fleetwood Mac’s iconic music combines piercing lyrics, smooth harmonies, and a high-energy Rock and Roll feel that continues to resonate with fans from every generation.

harp by candlelight

January 21, 2023 // 7:30pm

Delight in the serenity of harp and flute by the subdued hues of candlelight. Featuring soloists from the Lima Symphony, the bright and delicate tones of strings and winds sparkle through works by Debussy, Mozart, Pärt, and Tchaikovsky.

Buckets, drums, cymbals, sticks, and don’t forget the kitchen sink! We will need it all for this presentation of “Wall to Wall Percussion” created and performed by acclaimed Canadian percussionist Vern Griffiths.

Mozart and salieri

March 18, 2023 // 7:30pm

Immortalized in both book and film, Mozart and Salieri come to life once again on the concert stage – not in competition but in complement. The first half of the program highlights the cosmopolitan and refined Salieri, a composer whose fame and recognition have often been overshadowed by Mozart’s vivacious and prodigious talent.

Experience the magic of the movies through the scores of John Williams. Relive the most awe-inspiring film moments of the past 60 years through live performance as the Lima Symphony Orchestra presents music from beloved films including E.T., Harry Potter, Schindler’s List, Angela’s Ashes, Indiana Jones, Amistad, Star Wars, and more.
